Choosing the Right Busbar Standard

IEC 61439 covers low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies, including temperature-rise limits and clearances. NEC rules for busbars and busways appear mainly in Articles 366, 368, and 408. CEC applies in Canada. Material also matters: copper carries more current per unit of cross-section, while aluminum is lighter and often cheaper but needs a larger cross-section for the same current. Always confirm the code edition your local authority enforces.
