The event featured remarkable demonstrations by the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force, underscoring the nation’s readiness to defend its borders while symbolizing its unwavering commitment to freedom and democracy. The show also shone a spotlight on Pakistan’s burgeoning defence industry, showcasing indigenous technologies that meet international standards.
“Arms for Peace”: Showcasing Pakistan’s Defence Diplomacy
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, addressing a distinguished gathering of military officials, defence experts, diplomats, and global industry leaders, thanked international participants for their involvement. He highlighted IDEAS 2024 as a platform that strengthens Pakistan’s role in global defence diplomacy under the theme “Arms for Peace.”
He also lauded the Pakistan Navy for their stellar display, praising their professionalism and dedication to safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests. The Chief Minister concluded by thanking the people of Karachi for their enthusiastic support and reaffirming the city’s vital role as Pakistan’s maritime hub.
Air Chief Visits IDEAS 2024: A Push for Technological Innovation
Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, visited the 12th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2024) at the Karachi Expo Centre.
The air chief toured various stalls in the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park pavilion, which featured cutting-edge advancements in space, cyber, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, and aerospace technologies. He emphasized the importance of technological collaboration and the transformation of start-ups into thriving Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to drive innovation in the aerospace sector.
During his interactions with national and international delegates, the air chief explored opportunities to promote self-reliant defence solutions and boost Pakistan’s defence exports. He also stressed the need for fostering young talent and strengthening local industries through initiatives like the National Incubation Centre for Aerospace Technology.

A significant milestone was achieved during IDEAS 2024 with the ground-breaking of Pakistan’s first-ever Maritime Science and Technology Park (PMSTP). Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf inaugurated the historic project at the Karachi Expo Centre on Thursday.
Admiral Ashraf described the PMSTP as a transformative initiative that integrates academia, industry, and government to advance maritime sciences, businesses, and technologies. He highlighted its potential to bolster Pakistan’s blue economy, enhance GDP, and open new opportunities in fields such as naval technologies, ocean renewable energy, shipbuilding, and coastal tourism.
The PMSTP is envisioned as a hub for innovation, focusing on addressing economic challenges while fostering growth across maritime sectors.
